"The truth is that we didn’t find out about the strike today. We came from Iguazu (falls), we are doing a route through Argentina, and we were flying to Calafate to see the Perito Moreno (glacier). We have been saving for a year to be able to go, and we have found this mess, and we found out now, and they are relocating us now to see what solution they give us but we have already lost the night in the hotel, and tomorrow we had the visit to the Perito Moreno, and we have already lost that, I suppose we won’t get that back and neither will the time."

In addition, three pilots from Aerolíneas Argentinas – you already have this information – were fired for refusing to fly an airplane, and today, the president (Javier Milei) will be signing the regulation of article 182 of the DNU (Necessity and Urgency Decree) that establishes the guidelines to declare civil and commercial aviation as an essential service."

STORYLINE:
Amid a prolonged confrontation with President Javier Milei, two unions representing pilots and cabin crew of Aerolíneas Argentinas airline began a 24-hour strike on Friday, demanding salary increases that caused the cancellation of more than 300 flights.
The government announced it would declare civil and commercial aeronautics an essential service to prevent future flight cancellations.
The strike that began at noon was led by the Association of Airline Pilots (APLA) and the Argentine Association of Flight Attendants (AAA), unions that blame the state airline for an uncompromising stance in salary negotiations to compensate for the loss of purchasing power due to inflation.
Meanwhile, another union that represents ramp service personnel plans to hold a working assembly that would affect assistance on the runway for the different airlines.
