Get back out there and act.’ And I’ve had to learn over time to respect like she’s done so much. The poor woman should relax when she wants to. But I’m really proud of her, in this case, for getting out there and with such a challenging project and knocking it out of the park. It’s really special, and it’s so fun."

"Mia’s a wizard. Mia’s a white witch. Mia is miraculous. Apparently, I’m told that she hasn’t been on a stage by herself since 1979 you wouldn’t know it’s all there, all her skill, all her wit, her charm. It’s like a switch was thrown and she’s back.”

STORYLINE:
Screen icon Mia Farrow stepped back onstage Thursday for the opening night of play “The Roommate” at New York’s Booth Theatre.

Farrow was joined at the event by her co-star Patti LuPone, the play’s writer Jen Silverman and director Jack O’Brien.

"Mia’s a wizard. Mia’s a white witch. Mia is miraculous," said O’Brien on the red carpet before the show. "Apparently, I’m told that she hasn’t been on a stage by herself since 1979 you wouldn’t know it’s all there, all her skill, all her wit, her charm. It’s like a switch was thrown and she’s back.”

Also in attendance, Farrow’s journalist son Ronan, who is proud his mom is treading the boards once again.

"I wind up being a bit of a stage mom to her at times where I’m like, ‘You’re so talented, You’re a legend. Get back out there and act.’ And I’ve had to learn over time to respect like she’s done so much. The poor woman should relax when she wants to. But I’m really proud of her, in this case, for getting out there and with such a challenging project and knocking it out of the park. It’s really special, and it’s so fun."

"The Roommate," which is a two-hander, sees divorcee Sharon (Farrow) invite Robyn (LuPone) to live with her to help pay the household bills.

It’s scheduled to run at Booth Theatre at 222 W 45th Street, New York, until 15 December 2024.
