House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries says House Republicans are threatening a Donald Trump-inspired government shutdown to "jam Trump’s Project 2025 down the throats of the American people."
In his weekly press conference Thursday, Jeffries told reporters, "Once again, we find ourselves at another fork in the road. Extreme MAGA Republicans want to shut down the government. Because they are determined to jam Trump’s project 2025 down the throats of the American people and enact extreme cuts."
Jeffries said that House Democrats will reject a short-term spending bill that includes Donald Trump policy provisions or delays resolving the 2025 spending into next year.
