Crowds gathered outside Singapore’s parliament Thursday morning hoping to catch a glimpse of Pope Francis as the Papal motorcade made its way to the government building where the Pope met with officials.

The Pope was welcomed and met by Singapore’s President Tharman Shanmugaratnam in parliament.

Filipino Catholic, Connie Rodriguez was amongst the crowds and said "it’s so overwhelming. I mean, I saw him smile. I tried to video but I looked at him instead," said Connie Rodriguez, adding that she felt "so blessed".

For many Catholics in Singapore, this will be their first time seeing a pope.
