"We’re kind of waiting to see if we’re going to leave or not. I’m going to actually meet with my students online and run class and then kind of assess the situation and then decide if we’re going to stay or not. If the air quality stays the way it is and we don’t see the flames coming over the ridge, we’ll probably stay. But if we for seeing flames and the air gets bad, we’re probably going to head down."

"Oh, that would just put too much smoke in our valley. You know, I doubt, I doubt that the fire is going to come into our community. The El Dorado Fire, the firefighter did a really good job protecting our homes. And I don’t see this as being as bad as that. So hopefully, hopefully, it’ll just burn up the ridge and our little community will be free from flames that are nearby."

"Oh, it’s it’s an old home. It’s it’s been, it’s an old cabin that was actually here. I think it was built in the 1930s. And it has additions that happened over time. So it’s a it’s a typical stick built home with wood siding. I’ve been putting some new siding on this on the side of it that’s a little bit better than the old stuff and has like a a little bit of a protection."

"Well, I just I love wildlife and I go hiking almost constantly. I go hiking three times a week and just being around the wildlife, I think is a big part. And I grew up up here. I was born here. I was literally born in this community, in the kitchen of my mom’s house so that’s a big part of it."

STORYLINE:
Days of triple-digit temperatures fed a wildfire in the foothills of a national forest east of Los Angeles Monday, pushing some 6,000 people to flee the area.
In California, the so-called Line Fire led at least 6,000 people to evacuate mountain communities, said Cal Fire spokesman Rick Carhart.
The blaze threatened thousands of home and commercial structures as it burned along the edge of the San Bernardino National Forest, about 65 miles (105 kilometers) east of Los Angeles.
As of Monday morning, the blaze had charred about 32 square miles (83 square kilometers) of grass and brush and blanketed the area with a thick cloud of dark smoke. It was 3% contained.
