4. SOUNDBITE (English) Amy Adams, actor:
"It’s hard because it’s unimaginable to know that all this time has passed and to collect a body of work and to feel so fortunate and to want to be able to thank every single person whose made it possible along the way. I just feel an enormous amount of gratitude this evening."
5. Lupita Nyong’o
6. Cate Blanchett
7. David Cronenberg
8. SOUNDBITE (English) David Cronenberg, director:
"It’s great bringing it back to Toronto. It was at the Cannes Film Festival, but, but it was shot here and it was conceived here. And it’s about my life here. And some ways, you might find that strange when you see the movie, but you have to understand the metaphor, you know, their metaphorical connection. Rather, it’s not a literal autobiography or anything like that, but, there’s there is some autobiography, and it’s all Toronto."
9. Medium, Denis Villeneuve
10. Medium, Edgar Ramirez
11. SOUNDBITE (English) Jharrel Jerome, actor:
"I’m extremely proud. I’m very intentional, and my team is too. We decided that kind of when I won an Oscar and then an Emmy within a three year period, it felt a little weird, you know, being on the Oscars stage and then the Emmy stage three years later. So I was like, I am a little spoiled here. And I wanted to keep that sort of gravitas and that sort of respect. So I knew that meant being a bit more selective, not just popping up in anything just for the sake of doing it, to say, hey, look, I’m a movie star. I love the craft. Daniel Day-Lewis is one of my favorite actors, not only because of the work he does onscreen, but because of the choices he makes and how selective he is. So I don’t always stretch myself, you know?"
12. Medium, Sarah Gadon
13. Medium, Randy Bachman
14. SOUNDBITE (English) Randy Bachman, recording artist – on his legacy:
"It’s pretty amazing. That stuff you wrote as a kid that you thought, ‘I hope this gets on the radio once,’ is still around after decades and still being celebrated."
