STORYLINE:
Catholic faithful in Papua New Guinea have been gearing up to welcome Pope Francis – who is set to travel to the country on Friday.
It’s part of the second leg of the Pontiff’s 11-day, four-nation trip to Asia and Oceania.
The Pope will arrive from Indonesia where he met Grand Imam Nasaruddin Umar, and attended an interreligious meeting with religious leaders at the Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta.
"It’s really a blessing that he has chosen to come to Papua New Guinea," said Veronica Maloni, a headteacher at St John’s Primary School in Papua New Guinea.
Pope Francis’s trip will also take him to East Timor and Singapore before it ends Sept. 13.
