STORYLINE:
Thousands of migrants passing through Mexico on their way to the U.S. have ended up in Mexico City.
They wait weeks — even months — before securing an appointment to seek asylum in the U.S. through the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s mobile app known as CBP One.
Even though 1,450 appointments are issued every day, thousands of people remain in limbo, living in crowded, makeshift camps with poor sanitation and grim living conditions.
