4. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Samir Qawas, local resident:
“Nothing will happen. Believe me, things have calmed down in the country; it’s done, it stops here, and nothing will happen. If you hit me, I’ll hit your back, that’s it. No one is advancing an inch, not Israel, not Hezbollah. It’s over. There are international interests involved. Iran is causing chaos in Yemen, Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon. Is there any place where they have a hand and haven’t caused destruction? Just tell me. Unfortunately, that’s the reality."
5. Various of fishermen
6. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Ahmed Baltaji:
“I believe there won’t be a war, only settlements. Hopefully, there won’t be a war. But who knows? If they don’t know, how can we? Everyone is expecting something different. Let’s hope for the best. Hopefully, there won’t be a war, and our economy and country will recover and thrive, which is what we all want and wish for, and people will come to the country, there will be work, and the youth will have jobs. This is what everyone hopes for — no one wishes for war. But if war breaks out, there will be no escape."
7. Various of traffic in Beirut
8. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Naeem Salah, newspaper vendor in Hamra shopping street:
"What happened was practically a bold and reactive move by the resistance, and at the same time, the most effective weapon is the psychological one. The message is clear: ‘If you strike us, we’ll strike you back. You target civilians? Even then, the (Hezbollah) party adhered to the rules of engagement until the end.’ This is something that reassures us internally, and Alsayyed (Nasrallah) has never lied, not once."
9. Various of traffic in Beirut’s southern suburb
10. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Ali Sadiq, resident of Beirut’s southern suburb and Hezbollah supporter:
“Regarding the response yesterday, as always, Sayyed Hassan promised and delivered. This resistance in Lebanon has never let us down; it is our support. And now, as you can see, he told people to return to the Dahieh (Beirut’s southern suburb), and they did. Hopefully, life will get back to normal. We promise Israel that if they approach the Dahieh again, we will respond once more."

STORYLINE:
Fighting resumed Monday between the Israeli military and Lebanon’s Hezbollah militant group along the Lebanon-Israel border, but the Lebanese this time appear far less concerned about full-scale than they have been since the conflict started.
“Nothing will happen. Believe me, things have calmed down in the country; it’s done, it stops here, and nothing will happen,” said Samir Qawas, sitting with friends on Beirut’s corniche promenade along the Mediterranean Sea.
On Sunday morning, the Israeli military said it had used some 100 military aircraft to target Hezbollah sites where they say they were intending to launch a large-scale attack into Israel.
Hezbollah said it launched over 300 rockets and tens of drones deep into Israel in retaliation to the killing of its top commander last month in Beirut’s southern suburbs.
The intense fighting raised fears of the tense conflict since last October spiraling into an all-out war.
Hezbollah said it had successfully hit its intended target, a military intelligence site near Tel Aviv, while the Israeli military denied their claims. Neither provided evidence.
