“Again, if you recall that the best way to take me down would be to frame me for Mr. German’s murder. And so, you know. Yes, I do believe that.” Hamner: “I want to write that down. You said the best way to take me out is to frame you for killing German, right?
Telles: "Yes, sir."
Hamner: "I’m paraphrasing, but essentially that’s it.”
Telles: “Absolutely.”

3. SOUNDBITE (English) Christopher Hamner, Prosecutor:
“Okay. You were here yesterday and you talked for approximately two hours. Do you remember that?”
Telles: “Yes sir.”
Hamner: “And then you came here this morning and you talked for another hour or so. Correct?”
Telles: “Yes sir.”
Hamner: “There’s one thing I didn’t hear you mention. The DNA. I’d like to talk about that with you. You’re not disputing that your DNA is underneath Mr. German’s fingernails, are you?”
Telles: “Yes I am.”
Hamner: “Yes, but you’ve heard the testimony, is there? Correct?”
Telles: “I don’t know if it was there or at what point it might have gotten there, sir.”
Hamner: “Okay. I’m not asking you how it got there. Are you really denying that your DNA is underneath the fingernails.”
Telles: “Without knowing the truth? Yes I am.”
Hamner,: “Okay, well, you’ve heard witnesses testify,”
Telles: “Right.”
Hamner: “So you hold the DNA labs in on it, too?”
Telles: “I don’t know. I don’t know at what point. I don’t know what point the sample was collected.”
Hamner: “Sir, please tell us, jury. How in the world does your DNA get underneath Mr. German’s fingernails?”
Telles: “I don’t know, because I did not kill Mr. German.”
Hamner: “You have no idea how it could have gotten underneath your fingernails, correct?”
Telles: “Under my fingernails?”
Hamner:“I’m sorry. Under his fingernails, correct.”
Telles: “I don’t know that it ever was, sir.”
Hamner: “All right, let’s do it another way. You and Mr. German are not friends, are you?”
Telles: “No”

“Okay, so how did Compass break into your home to plant this evidence?” Telles “Like I said before, I don’t know how it got in there, but I did not put it there.”
Hamner: “How did they plant the hat?”
Telles: “I don’t know how I got there, but I didn’t put it there.” Christopher Hamner:“How did they plant the shoes?”
Telles: “I don’t know how he got under the couch, but I did not put it there.” Hamner: “How did they get your DNA in there”
Telles: “I don’t know that where, when and where that DNA was allegedly obtained, so I couldn’t say.”
Hamner: “How did they put the images in your phone?”
Telles: “I don’t know if that was in my phone or on a corrupt image or what have you. Again, you cannot say when or where any of this occurred, really.”

“Please read to this jury. What is it say underneath that photograph?” Telles: “Its says where are you?”
Hamner: “Where are you? You told us you were at home.”
Telles: “I did not, I said. Actually, when I got the messages, I was still on my walk.”
