4. SOUNDBITE (German) Johanna (last name not given), 18-years-old, student from Innsbruck, Tirol:
“Of course I was happy that finally something came from her. And she wrote that she stayed silent because it was safer that way. But I think for many fans it would have already been enough if she had left a comment under one of the many videos on the internet or just something – I think this would not have endangered the London shows. I think it would have been enough just to get something from her, but now I am happy that she wrote something.”

6. SOUNDBITE (German) Johanna (last name not given), 18-years-old, student from Innsbruck, Tirol:
“I don’t think the chances are very high – because her tour will continue in America in October already. But I would be over moon if she came.”

“I think it’s actually a bummer to her fans because I think 200,000 people were in Vienna – and that’s a pretty big number. And I just can’t understand why she let them wait for such a long time.”

STORYLINE:
Austrian Taylor Swift fans kept coming to Corneliusgasse on Thursday weeks after the Vienna concerts of the U.S. artist had been cancelled due to a terror threat, and had mixed opinions on her first statement since.
Corneliusgasse is a small street just 5 kilometers (3 miles) from the stadium where Swift had been scheduled to perform, whose name echoes that of Cornelia Street, a contemplative synth-pop track from Swift’s 2019 album Lover.
A single tree in the street serves as an improvised Swift-altar and trading place for friendship bracelets.
Johanna, an 18-year-old student from Innsbruck, is back in town for a Coldplay concert this week and had tickets for the Taylor Swift shows in early August, too.
While she accepts Swift’s long silence after the cancelled shows she thinks that “for many fans it would have already been enough if she had left a comment under one of the many videos on the internet or just something – I think this would not have endangered the London shows, (…) but now I am happy that she wrote something.”
Katharina, a 15-year-old student who came to Corneliusgasse with her parents to exchange friendship bracelets, says she fully understands Swift’s decision to remain silent.
“I understand that she says something only now because she didn’t want to comment on those political things. And I find it nice that she wants to protect her fans.”
“Having our Vienna shows cancelled was devastating,” she wrote in a statement posted to Instagram on Wednesday.
