Australia: Employees can now ignore calls from their bosses after work hours | DW News

Millions of workers in Australia just got official permission to ignore their bosses outside working hours.

The so-called ‘right to disconnect’ means staff at large and medium-sized companies can refuse to respond if their employers contact them after hours. The new law is similar to measures in force in some European and Latin American countries. Unions say the legislation should give people a better work-life balance.

For more on this, we talk to Brigid Schulte, she is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author. Her newest book “Over Work: Transforming the Daily Grind in the Quest for a Better Life,” will be published next month.
