"The vessel sank in a matter of minutes, 2 to 5, depending on on the various accounts and that’s particularly fast for a vessel to sink, particularly without any major structural failures. The accounts from the divers is that the vessels pretty much intact on the bottom of the sea. So that coupled with reports of very extreme and localized weather at the time of the sinking, it really hints at a freak accident whereby the vessel might have been pushed over on its side. And I think some of the recent survivor testimonials this morning talk about that feeling of being lifted by waves. So it’s very likely the vessel might have been knocked over and started to take on a lot of water."

"What’s particularly, surprising is that those vessels are built with watertight sub compartments, the idea being that should you hit something, one of those compartments could fill with water and the vessel would remain afloat. So for the vessel to sink, especially this fast, you are really looking at taking water on board very quickly, but also in a number of locations along the length of the vessel, which again indicates that it might have been rolled over on its side."

STORYLINE:
Hope of finding any of the missing passengers from the superyacht that went down off Sicily was dwindling Wednesday after AP footage showed rescue workers bringing ashore at least one more body.
Fifteen people of the 22 people on board survived after the Bayesian went down early Monday.
While there have been cases of people surviving shipwrecks even for days in air pockets, the passage of time and absence of signs of life from inside the hull made it unlikely, maritime experts said.
At least five people remain unaccounted for, including British tech magnate Mike Lynch, his 18-year-old daughter and associates who successfully defended him at his recent U.S. federal fraud trial.
In addition to robot footage of the wreckage, prosecutors have seized closed-circuit video of the Monday morning storm taken by cameras around Porticello and directed at sea.
One, broadcast by local media, showed the illuminated mast of the Bayesian weathering the storm a half-mile offshore, but then seemingly disappearing from view in a matter of seconds.
Italian coast guard and fire rescue divers, meanwhile, were continuing the underwater search in dangerous and time-consuming conditions.
