US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has ended his trip to the Middle East, where he was urgently seeking to broker a cease-fire deal between Israel and Hamas. The top US diplomat held talks in Egypt and Qatar about the proposed truce — but left the region with a deal still elusive. Both Qatar and Egypt, along with the US, are acting as mediators. On Monday, Blinken told journalists in Tel Aviv that Israel had accepted what he called a "bridging proposal" designed to address the differences between the two sides. But Hamas said the proposal went against what it had previously agreed to.
