STORYLINE:
A column of black smoke billowed into the air from a fire close to the Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon on Friday.
Portuguese media reported that the blaze erupted in the parking lot of a car rental company in the Prior Velho area.
They said the fire was believed to have erupted in an electric vehicle before spreading quickly to other cars.
Some 60 firefighters and 21 emergency vehicles were said to have been sent to the scene, according to media reports.
The car park is located in an industrial area, close to a number of warehouses.
Officials said the main aim of the firefighting operation was to stop the flames from spreading.
The fire caused delays for people traveling to and from the airport as flights were spaced out as a precaution.
