3. Various of plumes of smoke billowing up from plain around Khiam town
STORYLINE:
Plumes of smoke were seen rising from the southern Lebanese town of Khiam on Thursday as tensions continue to escalate between Israel and Hezbollah.
The shelling came after Hezbollah launched a barrage of missiles on the Galilee in northern Israel.
Hezbollah has traded fire with Israel since the 8th of October along the border in what the Lebanese militant group says is a support front for its ally, Hamas.
The conflict has sparked fears of a wider regional war, with Lebanon’s Hezbollah and the Israeli military trading fire almost daily over their countries’ border.
More than 500 people have been killed on the Lebanese side, including some 350 Hezbollah members and 50 fighters from other militant groups, with the rest civilians. In Israel, 22 soldiers and 24 civilians have been killed.
