12. SOUNDBITE (English) Sr. Rose Marie Stallbaumer, Benedictine Sisters of Mount St. Scholastica:
"We were just beginning to set money aside for our elderly sisters and to care for our own retirement. Up to that point, we really did not have any investments. And as we started to do that, we decided it was really important to do it in a responsible way. We do always make sure we’re not concerned primarily for getting the very best earnings, but making sure that our investments are invested in companies that we believe in, and support. And if they don’t, we might have a small amount invested in other companies. Like some years ago, we withdrew from fossil fuels. However, we said, let’s keep a small amount so we can file shareholder resolutions in those companies."
