"The welcome at the airport was something very nice, seeing my family, seeing my teammates, seeing all the directors there as well. The truth is that it was something very nice, and when I left in the caravan I saw there my school friends, my friends, girls from where I studied. That was what filled me the most, that girls that I don’t personally know were there celebrating too."

But definitely you always have to look for a little bit more, you can always give more, look for better results and that is my goal: to continue to put the name of Guatemala on top "

STORYLINE:
Hundreds of Guatemalans received the first ever Olympic gold medalist and delegation of athletes after their participation in Paris.

Adriana Ruano, gold at trap shooting led the delegation, along with Jean Pierre Brol who won bronze for the men’s category on the same sport.

Ruano said she was moved by the people who celebrated with the delegation, especially by the younger generations of her former school.

The sharpshooter took part in the Tokyo Olympics, days after her father passed away, and to whom she made the promise to bring a gold medal for him.

In Chateauroux, France, Ruano had the chance to fulfill her promise and bring that Olympic gold medal, also setting a record in the discipline.
