1. Various of live fire drills staged by the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team
STORYLINE:
U.S. military forces in South Korea staged live fire drills on Wednesday to sharpen the units’ proficiency as a part of rapid deployment training, known as Warrior Fortitude.
The 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team deployed its tanks and Apache helicopters during the drills in Pocheon, South Korea. The tanks fired at fixed targets while the helicopters provided cover from the rear.
South Korea and. the U.S .military announced Monday that an annual joint military exercise, known as Ulchi Freedom Shield, will begin August 19.
South Korean and U.S. military officials said this year’s exercise will include computer-simulated exercises designed to enhance readiness against such threats as missiles, GPS jamming and cyberattacks and concurrent field maneuvers and live-fire exercises.
