STORYLINE:
The Israeli military said early Monday that around 30 "projectiles were identified" crossing from Lebanon into northern Israel.
It said most "fell in open area".
No injuries were reported and the "IDF were striking the sources of fire", according to the statement.
Regional tensions have soared since July when Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed in Iran and a Hezbollah’s top military commander, Fouad Shakur, was killed by an Israeli strike in Beirut.
Retaliation has been expected.
World leaders are pushing for a cease-fire in Gaza, which is expected to diminish the tensions in the Middle East.
