“We started these preparations some… almost one week ago and, in the process here in Bumasaba, a candidate who is going to circumcise has to go and inform his uncle. The uncle who is the brother to the mother. After that process, if the uncles agree with him, that is when he declares himself as the candidate of that day. So, the uncles when he went there, they never argued with him, only that they blessed him for the circumcision of today.”

“Even if you are dying, we can arrest and circumcise you at night and we bury you in the morning. We can put you inside and circumcise you well, put you, then we bury you. We cannot bury you in the land of the Bamasaaba without being circumcised. No, no, no, no. It’s in the constitution of culture of Bamasaaba. It’s in the constitution, even a dead body must be circumcised. It is a curse if you bury in the land people who are not circumcised if he is Umasaba, it is a curse.”
