"I think it was worth fighting, over the last two years, to maintain the highest level of ambition. We made strong choices. We stuck to this ambition during the past seven years. Bold choices are not always the easiest ones, but to organize sport competitions in iconic venues, to stage the opening ceremony on the River Seine, to swim in the River Seine, we had to face the challenges, of course, but we dared it. And this is probably what I am also very proud of. We did it."

"And France has shown itself to the world in a very, very, good mindset – confident, united, warm, welcoming. There are no doubt that ‘Paris est une fête’, Paris is still a party. And, I think it it’s been a fantastic demonstration of this fantastic appetite and love that Paris and France have for the Games."

STORYLINE:
The head of Paris 2024 Olympics Tony Estanguet told reporters on Saturday that the Games had helped show the world France as a "confident, united, warm, welcoming" country
Estanguet praised the French for their ‘mindset’, saying their confidence and unity were "a fantastic demonstration of this fantastic appetite and love that Paris and France have for the Games."
In his last press conference of the Games, Estanguet also said he was proud of his teams for meeting the many challenges that had come up along the way.
France is hosting the Olympics for the sixth time between July 26-Aug. 11, 2024.
