"It was really important that all the costumes that we made – 120 costumes – were up-cycled. This means we used recycled materials, like VHS from my mother’s house in Switzerland. All the pearls are damaged or broken, some are scratched, and that is what we wanted to show with this ceremony and show that’s called ‘Records’."

8. SOUNDBITE (French) Thomas Jolly, artistic director:
"This spirit, the Olympic spirit, is the one that arrived in Paris, that came upon us and has been there for 15 days. This spirit is a sum of humanity. I think the Olympic Games embrace something that represents us all, it’s all of us. And that is what we wanted to say during the opening ceremony and what we want to say at the closing ceremony."

STORYLINE:
The Paris Olympics will soon come to a close.
On Sunday, a closing ceremony at the Stade de France will feature traditional highlights, including the athletes’ parade and the handover of the Olympic flag to the organizers of the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
And just like the opening ceremony, all the costumes were made out of recycled materials.
"It was really important that all the costumes that we made – 120 costumes – were up-cycled," said Kevin Germanier, a designer. "We used recycled materials, like VHS from my mother’s house in Switzerland."
It’s a more traditional setting after the Seine River was used for the audacious opening ceremony, but don’t expect it to be dull.
It features the same artistic director — Thomas Jolly.
Organizers recently stated that it would include "over a hundred performers, acrobats, dancers and circus artists."
