Greece’s health ministry confirms dozens of people were injured as the wildfires spread rapidly. Firefighters have uncovered the body of a woman in a burnt-out factory in an Athens suburb.
Fire chiefs say they are no longer battling a single fire, but rather many localized blazes. Entire neighborhoods north of the capital have been evacuated.
Several EU countries, including France and Italy are sending assistance to help Greek authorities combat wildfires encroaching on Athens.
