Greece has ordered the evacuation of hospitals and homes near the capital Athens, as wildfires continue to spread.

Hundreds of firefighters are battling the flames, which in some cases have reached more than 25 metres high. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has cut short his holiday and returned to Athens to deal with the crisis. Greece is exceptionally vulnerable to wildfires. The country has now seen its hottest summer on record with many regions experiencing no significant rainfall for months.
