2. SOUNDBITE (English) Gov. Andy Beshear, (D) Kentucky:
"It’s certainly an honor to be considered in this process. But I am right where I’m supposed to be. Kentucky is in my DNA. I love this state and I love this job. And I’m really proud of what we’ve all done together in Kentucky. We’ve lowered the temperature more than most states. We’re getting along and we’re getting things done."

4. SOUNDBITE (English) Gov. Andy Beshear, (D) Kentucky:
(Reporter: "Can you give us some insights into what these last few weeks have been like for you?)
Well, I can’t go into the process, but it certainly was an honor to be considered and to see Kentucky get hundreds of millions of dollars of coverage. Saying such positive things about our economy and what’s going on here. To see the rest of Kentucky looking up to Kentucky instead of down at us, that’s a pretty special thing. And I knew throughout this process that regardless of how it came out, we had a chance to put Kentucky on the national stage and to talk about the great things that we are doing. And that’s going to benefit us in the years to come."
5. Wide of the capitol dome
6. SOUNDBITE (English) Gov. Andy Beshear, (D) Kentucky:
"Listen, if Donald Trump wants to attack Tim Walz, the rest of the country will see that Tim Walz is a veteran, was a teacher, a football coach, has been a good governor, but most importantly is a good person. They’ll see something different when they look at Donald Trump."
7. Wide of a door to the governor’s office
8. SOUNDBITE (English) Gov. Andy Beshear, (D) Kentucky:
"Well, not necessarily through the search, but knowing the vice president, she is smart and she is strong. That’s going to make her a good president. But she’s also kind and has empathy, and that’s going to make her a great president."

STORYLINE:
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear signaled Wednesday that he’s ready to campaign for the Democratic ticket, and threw his support behind Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
A day after Beshear and a few other prominent Democrats were bypassed in favor of the affable Minnesotan as Harris’ running mate, the Kentucky governor said he’s still part of the team. He indicated that Harris had asked him to continue making campaign pitches for the ticket.
Beshear, whose national profile surged as he competed for the No. 2 spot on the Democratic ticket, sidestepped questions about the inner workings of Harris’ running mate search.
"It’s certainly an honor to be considered in this process," said Beshear on Wednesday. "But I am right where I’m supposed to be. Kentucky is in my DNA. I love this state and I love this job. And I’m really proud of what we’ve all done together in Kentucky. We’ve lowered the temperature more than most states. We’re getting along and we’re getting things done."
Beshear predicted that the immediate surge of Trump-led attacks against Walz would backfire.
“The rest of the country will see that Tim Walz is a veteran, was a teacher, a football coach, has been a good governor, but most importantly, is a good person,” he said. "They’ll see something different when they look at Donald Trump.”
