"I think you all either were there or took part in that press conference. What I will say, the one thing I will say about it is that it clearly demonstrates, it clearly demonstrates that the sport of boxing needs a new federation to run boxing. If you ever needed any evidence at all that the IBA is unfit to run boxing, just look at the key members of the IBA who took part in that travesty yesterday. I think (that) tells you everything you need to know."

"We hope that those national (boxing) federations, I think some are already coming together, more I think after yesterday, but I think some of those are coming together and let’s hope that they can bring it to Los Angeles. We definitely, we would love to see boxing, we want to see boxing on the program in LA (2028 Olympic venue) and now it’s up to the boxing community to organize themselves for the sport and for the athletes."

"All the performers, for the ceremony celebration are hired by a production agency. They are selected. The selection is based on their creative skills. We are not in a position on our side to confirm the information that was reported in the media. So at this stage, I cannot comment more on that subject."

STORYLINE:
IOC spokesperson Mark Adams spoke of the need for a new boxing federation on Tuesday after a shambolic International Boxing Association conference which took place Monday evening.

The IBA raised new questions while struggling to answer others at the conference about the opaque eligibility tests that led the Olympics-banned governing body to abruptly suspend Imane Khelif and Lin Yu-ting from last year’s world championships, a decision that has fueled online abuse against the women during the Paris Games.

Adams said that the chaotic nature of the conference was evidence enough of the IBA’s inability to function as a boxing federation.

"Just look at the key members of the IBA who took part in that travesty yesterday. I think (that) tells you everything you need to know."

Adams added that more national federations are now "coming together" in response and hopes to see the sport at the Los Angeles 2028 games.

Paris 2024 spokesperson Anne Descamps also responded to reports in local media that a BMX rider involved in the opening ceremony is a police officer under investigation for murder, saying that they were unable to confirm any information but that any performers during the ceremony were hired by a production agency, based on their "creative skills."
