"Google is going to appeal and we don’t know how long that’s going to take. What we do know is going to happen is there’s going to be what’s called a remedy phase. That’s the next act in this legal showdown, known as a remedy phase. The first hearing in that is September 6th. But that process is going to take months to happen to. It could take a year just to do that. That’s where the judge is going to decide what kind of changes must be imposed to make a more competitive landscape."

STORYLINE:
A judge ruled that Google’s search engine has been illegally exploiting its dominance to squash competition and stifle innovation, a seismic decision that could shake up the internet and hobble one of the world’s best-known companies.
The highly anticipated decision issued by U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta comes nearly a year after the start of a trial pitting the U.S. Justice Department against Google in the country’s biggest antitrust showdown in a quarter century.
For instance, Yahoo was the most popular search engine during the 1990s before Google came along.
