2. SOUNDBITE (English) Mark Adams, International Olympic Committee (IOC) Spokesperson:
"In the first instance it (drone-spying scandal of Canadian soccer team) would be a matter for FIFA in this case for the federation because they have to continue the, continually investigations and they would have to come up with sanctions. Similarly for medal reallocation, that is always led by the federation’s results. So if, for example, in a hypothetical case, some were disqualified, then then there could then be a medal reallocation, but they would first and foremost be for the Federation to make the decision. We follow the sports, results, first and foremost."

4. SOUNDBITE (English) Mark Adams, International Olympic Committee (IOC) Spokesperson:
"This (questions over transgender boxers fighting in women’s games) involves real people. And we’re talking about real people’s lives here. They have competed and they continue to compete in the women’s competition. They have lost and they’ve won against other women throughout, over the years. And by the way, this isn’t, should make this absolutely clear for everyone, this is not a transgender issue. I know you know that but I think there has been some misreporting on this. And I think it’s very, very important to say that this is not a transgender issue. These women have been competing in competitions for many years."

6. SOUNDBITE (English) Anne Descamps, Paris 2024 Executive Director of Communications:
"As far as I’m concerned, I also saw on her (Simone Biles) social media that she was loving the pain au chocolat, which is maybe the reason why she said that it was not the most, same, what was the name, she said that it was more fat than she’d had expected. I have to say that there’s a lot of fruits, a lot of vegetables, that are provided in the restaurants and, yeah, we hope that she’s comfortable with her experience. But just to say in a word that we’re on a daily basis, working with the NOCs (National Olympic Committees), making sure that they have all they need for their experience at the village. So we didn’t had a specific report regarding her comments, and if necessary, we’re available."

STORYLINE:
IOC officials said a drone-spying scandal of the Canadian soccer team would be a matter for FIFA at a daily news conference on Thursday.

Canadian soccer officials admitted in evidence to FIFA that spying on opponents was routinely done, for the men’s national team as well as the women’s team which has been punished for using drones at the Paris Olympics.

The drone-spying scandal threatens to spread beyond the Olympics, where Canada is the defending women’s champion, to the men’s team at the 2026 World Cup.

"For medal reallocation, that is always led by the Federation’s results," said Mark Adams, IOC spokesperson.

Asked about two athletes competing in women’s boxing despite being judged last year to have failed gender eligibility tests at the world championships, Adams said it is not a transgender issue as widely reported.

Lin Yu-ting of Taiwan, who is a two-time world champion, and Imane Khelif of Algeria are both competing at their second Olympics.

At the 2023 worlds in New Delhi, both were due to get medals until being disqualified by the International Boxing Association.

The IBA has no part in running Olympic boxing in a fallout from a years-long dispute with the IOC.
