"So, in 2012, my son Peter, at age 27, was diagnosed with ALS. He set a vision at that point. He said we were going to change the trajectory of the disease. So, we started journaling on Facebook at the time, which was the social media of choice. And in 2014, when Pat Quinn, a fellow ALS patient, sent him the Ice Bucket Challenge that had been around for 6 to 8 months prior to that on the internet, he wrote three words because he was completely debilitated at that point, and he was typing with his eyes and he said to us: ‘this is it.’ So, at that point, we went out and we just asked people to go out in August of 2014 and dump ice water over their head, tag three people, and we would love if they would give to ALS. And you did."

"We’ve been doing a lot of interviews and there’s two questions that were asked a lot. What does this mean to you? It means that our son’s life was one of grace, determination and purpose. That through his resilience, diligence and courage, he created a movement that is still being celebrated today for all those that have been affected by this horrific disease. That ten years later, even though his human body is no longer with us, his powerful spirit is still being celebrated along with the historic movement."

"But as Pete would say, we can have fun today, but the job isn’t done. And let’s get back to work tomorrow. We need to continue in his honor to get to his ultimate goal of a cure."
