2. SOUNDBITE (English) Aurelie Merle, Executive Director of Sports Competitions:
"We know that the sun and the heat have a very strong impact on the quality of the water. And that’s why we feel.. because we were so close this morning that we can, you know, hopefully believe that tomorrow morning the water quality will be better. " ++FOLLOWED BY JUMP CUTS++

4. SOUNDBITE (English) Aurelie Merle, Executive Director of Sports Competitions:
" I mean, we’re living in the 21st century where, unfortunately, they are far more, meteorological events that happens that are beyond the control of the organizers. We’ve seen in previous editions of triathlon competitions that some of the events have been moved to duathlon because, you know, it’s complex. At the moment, we’ve seen that we go from, you know, heavy rain to extreme heat, like today, in very few days. So it’s actually hard to control how it can affect, the quality of a river."

6. SOUNDBITE (English) Mark Adams , IOC Spokesperson:
"They have found that in this case of accidental contamination, which, by the way, happens all the time. And by the way, the levels of contamination were minimal and absolutely definitely not performance enhancing. But there’s a full report, where the prosecutor found that they had taken the right actions and they’ve done the right things, and there was no suggestion of bias."

8. SOUNDBITE (French) Anne Descamps, Director of Communications:
"On this topic: the first thing is that we have daily monitoring that we are doing next to (intelligible) for indoor sites. All necessary measures were taken to make sure it was cool enough for outdoor sites, so we anticipated these heat waves. We have shaded areas, we have fountains, allowing everyone to keep hydrated. And you might have seen that on the vast majority of our sites we allow access with water bottles, which allows everyone to hydrate regularly. That is something that is a first when it comes to world sporting events. That was our own request. And then after that, we have a lot of information given ahead of the competitions to help athletes and fans take all necessary measures, all best practices to adapt to the heat when it comes to athletes, we have a whole series of protocols, put in place by International Federations allowing, if necessary to adapt the competition format."

10. SOUNDBITE (English) Mark Adams, IOC Spokesperson:
"They are women in their passports, and it’s stated that that is the case, that they are female. They’re competing in the women’s category. Again, I don’t want to mention their names or whatever, but these athletes have competed, many times before, for many years. Haven’t just suddenly arrived, they’ve been competing – they competed in Tokyo. And, I won’t go into the results and so on, but, you can you can probably find out, but I would, I would just make the point that they are eligible by the rules of the Federation. "
