STORYLINE:
Israel’s army ordered Palestinians on Sunday to evacuate areas of Bureij Refugee Camp and Shuhada neighborhood in Central Gaza and head for Muwasi, the Israeli-designated humanitarian zone situated in the far south west of the war stricken enclave.
Scores of people were seen packing and loading belongings onto trucks to flee the area.
"There is no safety in all of Gaza, where is the safety?," Abu Omar, a displaced Palestinian, said.
"Is there safety in Al-Bureij? No safety there. Is there safety in Deir al-Balah? No safety there. Is there safety in schools? There is no safety there. They are bombing UNRWA and striking UNRWA schools. Where is the safety?"
On Saturday, the Israeli military had ordered an evacuation of part of a designated humanitarian zone in Gaza ahead of a planned strike on Khan Younis in the south.
The order was in response to rocket fire that Israel said came from the area.
The military said it planned an operation against Hamas militants, including in parts of Muwasi, the crowded tent camp in a zone where Israel has told thousands of Palestinians to seek refuge.
Philippe Lazarini, the head of the UN agency for Palestinians, UNRWA, said in a post on X, formerly Twitter, that "only 14% of Gaza isn’t under Israel’s evacuation orders".
