5. SOUNDBITE (English) Waël Mechri-Yver aka WAÏ, musician and founder of Discolympics event:
"Cerrone is the father of disco music, the father king of disco music, but also the father of French touch. French Touch is like the best of electronic music coming from Paris, coming from France with Daft Punk, Bob Sinclar, Mojo, Cassios, Air telepop music. All this music came from Paris in the late 90s, but this music would never be anything without the inspiration of incredible talent like Cerrone or Giorgio Moroder. So I wanted to give a beautiful tribute and celebrate the legacy of 50 years of outstanding music that he has contributed to the world."

7. SOUNDBITE (English) Cerrone, French electro musician:
"Disco music is for discoteque (club). Forget the word Disco, it is music for discotheques. It is music for the people to explore their body and not care what the someone else can look at you or if you are crazy. You don’t care. And now, also with the younger. The young public on the festival. It’s. It’s funny. Ten days ago I performed in a big festival in the French Riviera, and I see 60,000 people in front of me. I stopped the music and ‘super nature’ (they sang along), so it never changes."

9. SOUNDBITE (English) Lydia Goldberg, Cerrone fan:

STORYLINE:
As the Eiffel Tower shimmered with laser lights, a tune from the man known as the French Disco King set the stage for the final leg of the Olympics opening ceremony.
As Cerrone’s “Supernature” pulsed through Paris, sports legends like Serena Williams and Rafael Nadal glided down the Seine, with deaf choreographer Shaheem Sanchez grooving to the beat through American Sign Language dance.
This 1977 classic proved that disco’s glittering charm still reigns supreme on one of the world’s grandest stages.
For Cerrone, 72, this moment once again proved his cross-generational music has staying power.
The DJ performed Sunday night before he hit the stage as the headliner at DiscOlympics, which brought out more than 3,000 energic concertgoers to a riverfront nightclub.
Cerrone said he still has indescribable emotions after watching the opening ceremony segment featuring his song, released nearly a half-century ago.
