Keith: "But overall it seems like they’re really hunkering down in terms of security, which I’m really glad to see, mostly because it is nervous, especially in this current time. There’s a lot of opportunity for a potential attack. So glad to see that they’re setting it up."

STORYLINE:
Heightened security measures are under way in central Paris as the city prepared for the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games later on Friday.
Many travellers were planning to converge on the capital for the event, and many vacationers were also in transit.
Barricades and police officers are placed along the River Seine.
France’s high-speed rail network was hit Friday with widespread and “criminal” acts of vandalism including arson attacks, paralyzing travel to Paris from across the rest of France and Europe only hours before the grand opening ceremony of the Olympics.
French officials condemned the attacks as “criminal actions,” though they said there was no sign of a direct link to the Games, and prosecutors in Paris opened a national investigation saying the crimes could carry sentences of 15 to 20 years.
