Car manufacturers are showcasing their latest technology in an international-scale exhibition near Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta.

The GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) features over 50 brands, with electric vehicles grabbing attention.

STORYLINE:

Dubbed the country’s largest automotive expo, the Association of Indonesian Automotive Manufacturers, known as Gaikindo, has hosted the annual auto show since 1986.

In 2006, the exhibition reached a new platform by becoming an international-scale exhibition endorsed by the Organization Internationale des Constructeurs d’Automobiles.

Five new manufacturers, including one from Vietnam, are joining in this year’s event which runs from July 18 to 28 at the ICE exhibition area in Jakarta’s satellite city of Tangerang.

Chinese electric cars are attracting the most attention from visitors.

Among the debuting brands, Chinese automaker BAIC is introducing their two new models: the BAIC BJ 40 Plus and BAIC X55 II.
