7. SOUNDBITE (English) Arlene (left) and Nathan Larson, Canadian tourists:
Arlene: “It’s been very simple. It’s probably the cleanest it’s ever been in all of the times that we’ve come to Paris so far, so that’s been nice.”
Nathan: “We thought it was going to be busier in traffic so we parked pretty far out, and we took the metro in but it hasn’t been bad.”
Arlene: “The metro’s always been easy to navigate here so it’s been nice.”
Nathan: “A great couple of days."

9. SOUNDBITE (English) Arlene (left) and Nathan Larson, Canadian tourists:
Nathan: “My son is really into basketball, so we want to go to that. We knew that was in Lille which was perfect because we didn’t want to battle the Olympic crowds because I’m sure it’s going to become a lot busier in the next couple of days. We thought we’d come, see it before the people get here – some of the people – and then go out into the countryside and relax a bit."
10. Various of residents and tourists crossing footbridge
11. SOUNDBITE (French) Jean-Louis (left) and Elise Galaine, French tourists:
Elise: “We’re even quite surprised in a good way. We’ve found that going about town isn’t that hard once you’ve understood – although we know Paris so it’s perhaps easier – that you can’t access this central area with the metro, and you need to get off a stop before and that you walk and there’s a lot of police, but there were rather friendly and have answered all of our questions. We’ve found it to be pretty quiet.”
Jean-Louis: “For now, it’s going rather well.
Elise: “It’s calm and very agreeable and because it’s not very crowded. Yesterday we did one day at the Olympics and one day visiting museums. Yesterday, at the museums that we visited, it wasn’t too crowded, and we felt it was rather peaceful."

STORYLINE:
Local residents and tourists enjoyed Paris and the River Seine on Thursday as organizers prepared for the 2024 Olympics opening ceremony on Friday.
With entire swaths of central Paris closed to motor vehicles and QR codes needed to access some areas, many well-prepared visitors were seen walking across a footbridge overlooking the Seine.
Workers were setting up audio and video equipment all along the banks as the French capital braces for a one-of-a-kind ceremony on Friday.
Instead of a traditional march into a stadium, about 10,500 athletes will parade on more than 90 boats on the Seine River for 6 kilometers (3.7 miles).
This will start the ceremony, not mark the end of it, another break from tradition.
