STORYLINE:
A Russian presidential spokesperson said his country will wait for the clarification of details after the Ukrainian foreign minister said that his country is ready to engage in peace talks with Russia.

Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Wednesday that once Russia has "always remained open to the negotiation process."

"The details are important here, and we don’t know them yet," he added.

Those remarks were made after Ukraine’s top diplomat Dmytro Kuleba met earlier on Wednesday with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Guangzhou, a major commercial and manufacturing center in southern China.

It was the first visit to the country by a Ukrainian foreign minister since Russia’s so-called "special military operation" began in Ukraine in 2022.

Speaking at the meeting with Wang Yi, Kuleba said Ukraine is ready to engage the Russian side in peace, when Russia is ready to negotiate "in good faith", the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said in the statement.
