2. SOUNDBITE (English) David Lappartient, President of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee:
"It was a little bit challenging with the government in France because you know that we are still waiting for a new prime minister and with this, I would say, political issues, even constitutional issues, it was not possible to deliver the guarantee, as it’s – the wishes of the IOC (International Olympic Committee). But we have the fact that President (Emmanuel) Macron came. It was also very good to to see that it was just, I would say, a technical problem, due to the political situation. But he said clearly today that he will instruct the new prime minister to sign the guarantee. So we are quite confident that we will satisfy the conditions mentioned by the IOC."

4. SOUNDBITE (English) David Lappartient, President of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee:
"For us, we were in close discussion with the IOC. And the IOC, they have some guidelines, they have some principles and they cannot escape from the principles. But of course, they know also that France is able to deliver the games. We have the clear example here. They know that when they sign with France, the games will be delivered. And so, of course, they have to adapt a little bit. This is the first time that they award with conditions, but it’s due to a specific situation. But they don’t take any risk with our capacity to deliver. And they know that this is, I would say, the country – one of the top countries for ‘Olympism’ here. That would be the seventh time that we will host the Olympic Games in France, summer and winter games."

6. SOUNDBITE (English) David Lappartient, President of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee:
"The new Olympic Charter gave the opportunity to split a little bit, not to be in only one city, but in one region or one country, and with a new norm, with the idea to reduce the cost. Instead of building ‘white elephants’ or infrastructure that we don’t need after, it was better (to) use existing facilities to reduce costs. The budget will be around 2 billion euros or $2 billion. And will be also in Nice for all eyes with a very, very, wonderful transport network, very wonderful infrastructures. And that’s really great. So we’ll combine the best of the French Alps from the Leman Lake to the Mediterranean Sea."
7. President of the Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur region, Renaud Muselier speaking
8. SOUNDBITE (English) Renaud Muselier, President of the Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur region:
"Because you know in the French Alps, in the south of France, we have snow, chalet, a good champion, and we’ve never had the Olympic Games. And now we are going to prove that we are very happy to receive you and to show you our mountains, take care of the environments, take care of… all the ways of take (taking) care of our mountains. The people who live in mountains never lie. So we want to show you that."
