STORYLINE:
The big party at the Democratic National Convention is still on, and Chicago’s United Center is getting ready.
But Vice President Kamala Harris is the star and President Joe Biden will have to settle for second fiddle — a dramatic role reversal that will play out before a nationally televised audience.
Organizers spent more than a year preparing to celebrate Biden’s reelection campaign at Democratic festivities in Chicago starting Aug. 19.
Harris, though, gives the closing night address. The previous night will be dominated by the running mate she chooses.
That could mean a delicate political balance between the current president and the candidate vying to succeed him.
