And this committee, I think it has started working already. STORYLINE:
Bangladesh appeared to be returning to some sense of normalcy on Wednesday, after more than a week of deadly chaos triggered by student protests.
Thousands of cars and bicycles were on the streets of the capital Dhaka after authorities relaxed a curfew for seven hours.
Offices and banks opened for a few hours, while authorities restored broadband internet in some areas in Dhaka and the second-largest city, Chattogram.
Schools and other educational institutions remained closed until further notice.
Authorities said the curfew would continue in Dhaka and elsewhere until the situation improved.
Local media report on Wednesday reported that at least 197 people were killed in violence during the protests over government job quotas.
The Associated Press could not confirm the death toll from any official sources.
A government official on Wednesday said official casualty figures would be announced after a judicial inquiry had been completed.
Mohammad Ali Arafat, junior minister for information and broadcasting, was speaking during a visit to the destroyed offices of Bangladesh Television.
The Dhaka headquarters of the state-run broadcaster was badly damaged in an arson attack during the protests.
Clashes between police and mainly student protesters first erupted on July 15.
The students called for an end to a quota that reserved 30% of government jobs for relatives of veterans who fought in the war of independence in 1971.
The chaos turned deadly after the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party and right-wing Jamaat-e-Islami party extended support to the protests.
