STORYLINE:
Taiwan’s military canceled its air defense drills in Hualien on Tuesday as Typhoon Kaemi intensified and approached the island.

The Air Force 5th Tactical Mixed Wing announced the cancellation due to adverse weather conditions.

According to the Central Weather Bureau, Typhoon Kaemi is heading towards eastern Taiwan, bringing severe weather that has significantly impacted the region.

Military spokesperson Sun Li-fang stated, "Currently, the eastern part of Taiwan is significantly affected by the typhoon. Due to the influence of weather, we will change some of the sea and air exercises."

Despite the disruptions caused by Typhoon Kaemi, the Han Kuang military exercises will continue with necessary adjustments to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.

The drills underscore Taiwan’s commitment to preparedness and resilience in maintaining its defense capabilities.
