The first month maybe they doubted and thought I came to the hospital touring to sing, but I was tending to patients. After a month everyone knew that for me it was no joke, and to say the truth I am very serious in what I do.”

STORYLINE:
Performing is what PJ Sin Suela does best.
In the tradition of other famous Puerto Rican rappers, his lyrics have a strong social message.
He sings about the woes of the Puerto Rican diaspora forced to move abroad, leaving the island bereft of talent.
He sings against gun violence and the fiscal control board overseeing Puerto Rico’s finances.
His talent has earned him hundreds of thousands of followers on social media.
But music is not his only job.
He is also Doctor Pedro Juan Vázquez.
He completed his bachelor’s degree in Pennsylvania, then returned to Puerto Rico to study medicine, becoming a doctor in 2015, following in his father’s footsteps.
This is when he first started juggling his medical rotations with his passion for rapping.

These days, the 34-year-old doctor travels from the capital San Juan to the southern and central regions of the island at least once a week to treat underserved communities.
“God knows what they say out there, but I am clear in what I do and so are those who work with me,” he says.
But music was his calling, so Vázquez at one time pursued a career in rapping and producing full-time
