"Well, we woke up at 3 a.m. with a huge noise of a blast. We had no idea what it was. I mean, we heard missiles before we heard things, this was different league, really, really loud. We saw some orange and red lights and we had a very unpleasant smell of, like, rubber on fire. This wasn’t, it wasn’t very nice. We immediately phone our kids to see whether they were okay. They were around Tel Aviv. And it took us about few minutes to realize that it was really outside our door."

"We went downstairs, and saw the damage, the windows shattered and, the damage that was here, and the noise from outside and all the sirens and the… you know, police and security forces. We were then asked to vacate the building for… they were afraid of a second blast, I think. So, we were outside for about an hour, an hour-and-a-half and then came back. (We are) trying to deal with the mess and the damage. We are very thankful that we weren’t physically hurt. But it was really, really scary."

"I live just up here. We woke up around I think it was 3 (am) from extremely loud noises and we panicked. We thought maybe some air conditioner engine fell down. Trying to see what happened I looked through the window and saw that my car was on fire. So, we went down thinking it was just like, a civil accident. We tried to take the fire out with the hose. A few minutes after the fire department came, helped us to kill (extinguish) the fire. The entire neighbourhood just came out, nobody knew what happened."

STORYLINE:
Residents of Tel Aviv were woken Friday by a loud explosion caused by a drone attack that hit the Israeli city, killing one person and injured another ten.
"Well, we woke up at 3 a.m. with a huge noise of a blast. We had no idea what it was. I mean, we heard missiles before we heard, but this was different league, really loud,” said Limor Sajiv, whose windows were broken due to the blast.
“We are very thankful that we weren’t physically hurt. But it was really, really scary" she added.
The Iranian-made drone sent by Yemen’s Houthi rebels struck Tel Aviv in the group’s first lethal strike into Israel.
The strike rumbled through the centre of the city near the U.S. Embassy, causing shrapnel to rain down and spreading shards of glass over a large radius.
The Houthis have launched drones and missiles toward Israel throughout the country’s war with Hamas. But until Friday, all were intercepted by either Israel or Western allies with forces stationed in the region.
Yahya Sare’e, the Houthis’ spokesperson, claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement published on the social media platform X. He said it was in retaliation for the Israel-Hamas war and had hit one of many of the group’s targets.
