STORYLINE:
Donald Trump has accepted his party’s nomination in a highly personal speech on Thursday, his first since he was cut off mid-sentence by a flurry of gunfire in an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania.

Supporters watching the speech in Concord, North Carolina were encouraged by his proposals on the economy and immigration.

"Seeing his platform and everything of what he wants to do for this country in the next four years if he gets elected, is definitely exciting," said local resident Brian Zicafoose.

Meanwhile, Keairiah Martinez, another attendee at the event was buoyed by Trump’s pick of JD Vance to run as vice president.

"He represents my generation. We’re tired of all – no offence – the old people in Washington," she told the AP.

"Biden’s been there for 50 years, almost half a century, and hasn’t done anything. Why is he still there?”
