"Ports in Latin America are used to export drugs to another continent, in particular to Europe, the port of Antwerp, Belgium. In order to stop and control these crimes, we must work together."

"We are going to find criminals wherever they are, and there will be no truce in this. They may try to hide, they may try to go underground, they may cross borders but we will stop them and pursue them. That is why it is important that something like the Bioceanic Corridor, where Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina and Chile participate, becomes safe."

STORYLINE:
Paraguay’s President Santiago Peña met his Chilean counterpart Gabriel Boric in Asunción on Wednesday.

One of the central topics the two presidents discussed was the Bioceanic Corridor – a project that plans to connect Brazil to northern Chile through roads, railways, airports and ports.

During their joint news conference, Boric said they also talked about the need to work together to stop the shipment of drugs from Latin America to Europe.

His comments come the day after Paraguay’s biggest ever seizure of cocaine, when four tonnes were found inside a shipment destined for Belgium, which he referred to during the news confernece.
