3. SOUNDBITE (Mandarin) Cho Jung-tai, Taiwan Premier:
“(I also noticed) former U.S. president Donald Trump’s comments. But I am sure that everyone knows that the Taiwan-U.S. relations are rock solid from the past years. The peace and stability over the Taiwan Strait and the Indo-Pacific region are our common responsibility and goal.”

5. SOUNDBITE (Mandarin) Cho Jung-tai, Taiwan Premier:
“Taiwan has a responsibility to the world. This has been our main goal. We should provide sufficient energy, whether it is for civilians’ daily use or other industries. Taiwan’s status is important in the global supply chain. We should not let the rest of the world doubt about our energy supply. For now, besides producing green energy to address the issues, we also have the Third Nuclear Power plant issue, which I mentioned before and you are all aware of. In the coming 3.5 years to 5 years, the powerplant will not be able to produce energy even if the laws are changed, even if the security and safety are checked, or even if the equipment is changed and the evaluations (are done) on earthquakes.”

7. SOUNDBITE (Mandarin) Cho Jung-tai, Taiwan Premier:
“We do know that the world geopolitics are currently tense. But major international companies still intend to build their data centers and factories in Taiwan. TSMC is also very solicited in other countries to build factories. This aspect of exchanges is proof that Taiwan’s status in the global supply chain and technology is indispensable. The more Taiwan is important, the more it is safe. Thus, we should take on even more responsibilities.”
8. Various of journalist asking questions
9. SOUNDBITE (Mandarin) Cho Jung-tai, Taiwan Premier:
“I think China unilaterally announcing its regulations (on Taiwanese nationals visiting China) does not have any power on Taiwanese people because it does not have any jurisdiction on Taiwan. Therefore, after we have figured out (on China’s regulations), China does not mean to evacuate Taiwanese nationals. Instead, it meant that Taiwanese companies should seriously think about it when sending employees to work in China. But I suggest that it should not be limited to working. I also hope that (Taiwanese) people should also carefully consider when they go there (to China) as tourists or other purposes.”
10. Various of Cho taking notes
11. SOUNDBITE (Mandarin) Cho Jung-tai, Taiwan Premier:
“All we can do now is to strongly advise our people to be very cautious when they visit China either for work or travels. This is the only thing we can do.”
