STORYLINE:
Scores of people gathered on Wednesday for the funeral of three Syrian children who were killed in an Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon.
The children were said to have been killed an agricultural land in the village of Im al-Tout near the border with Israel.
Their bodies were buried in the small village of Qasmiyeh, north of the coastal city of Tyre.
Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency said two separate Israeli airstrikes in south Lebanon killed five Syrian citizens in one day.
NNA said the first drone strike killed two Syrian citizens who were riding a motorcycle near the southern village of Kfar Tibnit.
Chahine Jirkis, father of two of the children killed said he heard the strikes and found his children dead.
"Each one of them was in an area. They were all martyred. Jan lived for 15 minutes and then he was martyred. What can I say? God give victory to the resistance,” the bereaved father said.
Since the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza started on Oct. 7, Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon have killed over 450 people, mostly Hezbollah members but also include about 90 civilians and non-combatants.
On the Israeli side, 21 soldiers and 13 civilians have been killed.
