STORYLINE:
Forensics experts in Thailand reiterated their belief, Wednesday, that the six people found dead in a Bangkok hotel room were poisoned, with cyanide the most likely substance used.

Their bodies were discovered Tuesday at the upscale Grand Hyatt Erawan.

Two were Vietnamese Americans and the other four were Vietnamese nationals.

“The blood was bright red in color, quite different to other cases. This is what leads the autopsy team to surmise that poison was ingested, most likely cyanide," said the head of forensic medicine at Chulalongkorn’s medical school, Kornkiat Vongpaisarnsin, after an initial autopsy.

He told reporters that there was cyanide found in the blood of all six bodies, and a CAT scan showed no signs of blunt force trauma, reinforcing the hypothesis that they had been poisoned.

A husband and wife among the dead had invested about 10 million baht ($278,000) with two of the others, and that could be a motive, said Noppasin Punsawat, Bangkok deputy police chief, citing information obtained from relatives.

The investment was meant to build a hospital in Japan and the group might have been meeting to settle the matter.

The police say one killed the rest, but did not say which of the six is the suspect.
