STORYLINE:
Israel’s bombardments of central Gaza overnight into Tuesday morning killed at least 24 people, including ten children and four women, according to hospital authorities.
The dead have been taken to the al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital in the central city of Deir al-Balah, the facility said. An Associated Press journalist counted the bodies.
The funeral services took place Tuesday morning in the courtyard of Al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital in the city center, according to an AP journalist at the facility.
The Israeli operation in Gaza has killed more than 38,000 Palestinians, according to Gaza’s health ministry, which does not distinguish between civilians and militants.
Israel launched its campaign in Gaza after Hamas’ October 7 attack in which militants stormed into southern Israel, killed some 1,200 people – mostly civilians – and abducted about 250.
