STORYLINE:
Thunderstorms with heavy rains and possible tornadoes rattled the Chicago area and elsewhere in the Midwest.
The storms cut power to hundreds of thousands, and even sent weather forecasters scrambling for safety.
Mihajlo Jevdosic, 16, was visiting his aunt and uncle at their home in Norridge, a village near O’Hare International Airport, when the storm uprooted a huge tree and it fell on their house.
"We kind of heard a gust of wind that came up quick," Jevdosic says, adding "my uncle decided that we’d all go into the basement. And as we went in the basement, we heard a big thump and the tree fell on the house."
